[Vlog] Expat Life: Money vs Happiness on My Birthday

I turned my phone off and spent my birthday disconnected and out-and-about in downtown Kuala Lumpur.  The idea was to take a beat and think about what is not right in my life, including with a certain family relationship and how to fix it.  To ponder what’s going right with my professional life.  And decide if a digital nomad / location independent lifestyle is still what I want to be doing or do I miss “big money” enough to go back to a traditional expat life with a real job.

BEFORE YOU WATCH MY VLOG, watch the wonderfully inspiring “Do What You Can’t” video by Casey Neistat first.  You’ll see why later.

Come along as I share the challenge of not having a local bank account and what that means for getting cash.  We’ll go to the first show on opening day of A Star Is Born in Malaysia.  Eat Thai food for lunch inside the famous Petronas Twin Towers and end the vlog eating cake in my local bar.

At 21 I left uni, jumped into my Jeep Wrangler, and drove from my native California to live an adventure in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. I've explored 37 countries on 4 continents, residing in 8 of them (currently Indonesia's Riau Islands is my home). I even have a private pilot's license and was shot at once by bandits!
