Heaters are off, coats are back in storage, the sky is blue and everyone seems to have a skip in their step…because everywhere there are signs of life! It’s spring and Beijing feels fresh and new. It’s literally night and day different from the gloomy, grey, depressing days of winter. The sun is shining bright, the skies are Tiffany blue and Beijing looks so pretty, that I’d bet the city never looks better than these weeks right now!
Where once there stood a brown field, now a lush expanse of grass has graciously taken its place. Barren bushes and trees are now full of leaves. Flowers are blossoming and their fragrant smells bring smiles to anyone lucky enough to take them in. Cherry blossoms, plum blossoms…all variety of trees are flowering in downtown Beijing and their pretty little petals are everywhere!
If only the city could stay this way forever. I was able to capture all of these wonderful shots on my walk home two days ago, from my quick 15 minute stroll from the heart of the Embassy district across from the American embassy to just near the Landmark Bridge at the top of Sanlitun Road where I live. This is how I will always remember Beijing….
