Come with me on a tour of 157 Hampshire Place, my new home in Kuala Lumpur for the next 2 years. I have moved from quite an expat-heavy residential area into something akin to an oasis inside the heart of the KLCC urban jungle. The neighbourhood is called Hampshire Park and it’s located just two blocks from Petronas Twin Towers and I couldn’t be happier. Literally within a 5 – 7 minute walk I now have countless cafes, amazing restaurants with rooftop views of the city, street food at places like TAPAK, and everything else I could possibly need between the Suria Mall at Petronas, Avenue K, and the Ampang Mall.
WHY I LOVE 157 HAMPSHIRE PLACE
There are no pets allowed and I haven’t seen a single family with small children here yet so it’s perfect if you’re not too keen on being in an over noisy / kid-friendly building (like me!)
Given how inexpensive KL is compared to other cities, when I first moved here I rented a big, comfy condo in Mont Kiara (a 3 bedroom unit with maid’s quarters and a separate 2nd kitchen which is very typical in Malaysia). However, over time I realised that I wasn’t going out much there, not even to the cinema. Now I’m in a small 1 bedroom condo and paying roughly the same as I was paying for the larger condo but I’m insanely happier in my new home! In part because I”m now living right downtown and it’s a thrill to walk by Petronas Towers each day on my to anywhere 🙂 But also in part for my new condo itself and the over-water tranquility lounge in my building where I spend so much time writing, check it out!
XOXO Angela
