RCB Indian Premier League Cricket Players in Bangalore

So last night I was chatting with a friend and telling him about my day, which included my first trip to the M.Chinnaswamy Cricket Stadium here in Bangalore for a couple of meetings with the KSCA to discuss the KPL.  The stadium is fantastic, as are the guys who run the association.  Somehow we started talking about how, in general, women find cricket players extremely attractive, if not more attractive than other guys. For me, I wasn’t exposed to cricket back in California when I was a kid so until I moved to Europe 18 years ago I was completely unfamiliar with the sport.  And in Spain I didn’t see a lot of it but here it is impossible not to be entranced and sucked into cricket.  It’s the national pastime.

My dear friend NC Aiyappa is a bowler and certainly helps to support my “cricket men are hotties” idea!

And for whatever reason, in some way or another, the guys who play it appear to simply be hotter than normal guys.  I have a few ideas about why most women adore cricketers, but surely my list will fall short of all the reasons why and hopefully ladies will leave comments here and add to it.  Here are a few of my reasons:

    • Confidence:  it certainly takes – excuse me for this – balls to get out there in front of thousands or millions of people and do ANYTHING, especially something that is “live” and you don’t get any do-overs when you screw up.  I mean, when I am writing I can delete and you never know about my goof-ups.  But not cricket players.  They stand tall, walk proud and WORK IT every time they play.  And that is certainly attractive.
    • Sex appeal: I think probably the confidence and sex appeal could be considered one thing in my book but these guys look cool in their sunglasses and tracky bottoms running around the field.  They generally have great attitudes and smiles and that is hot.
    • Fame: I know none of us want to admit it but there is definitely something fun about being able to see action photos in a magazine or newspaper of your favourite cricketer – or watch them on TV.  That “star power” is something that is universal anywhere around the world and most people are drawn into the glow, whether we want to admit it or not.  The more famous someone is, the more they become like a brand – and we all have our favourite brands!

  • Fit body: Of course this is on the list!  In the U.S., our sports heroes don’t always have to be fit given what sport or possibly what position they play, for example football line backers.  But here, the cricketers seem to be in shape and have the most amazing arms.  And if they would just get a bit more excited like the Spanish footballers (yes, soccer, my American friends) and take their shirts off after a great play – I bet they have amazing abs under their uniforms too!
  • Talent: They are the best of the best so that makes them power guys.  At least to me, power is sexy when it’s used for good and not evil.
  • Uniform:  I love a man in a uniform!  Military, Star Wars Rebel Alliance, pilots, policemen – hell, I dated an actor who played a cop and even that was sexy even though I knew he was just playing dress up!  Uniforms rock, and cricket uniforms are just slightly baggy where they should be and snug where it counts.  They certainly beat the very unattractive basketball uniforms (sorry, guys!).

Now don’t get me wrong, there is much more to a man than how he looks and what he does for a living.  Just like there is more to us…and an ocean of complexity and spirit behind every woman’s eyes.  I am certainly not suggesting that all male cricketers are great guys, amazing husbands or perfect friends.  But… I am looking forward to getting to know a few of them better.  So I will have to check back to confirm if what is on the inside is as delightful as the packaging!

XOXO from Bangalore

At 21 I left uni, jumped into my Jeep Wrangler, and drove from my native California to live an adventure in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. I've explored 37 countries on 4 continents, residing in 8 of them (currently Indonesia's Riau Islands is my home). I even have a private pilot's license and was shot at once by bandits!

Looks like you have covered all the bases in your analysis. Can’t think of anything to add. 🙂

haha thanks! Do you play cricket? Am wondering if I will offend non-cricketers 🙁 –ang

I think your list includes just about everything that’s attractive about men who play cricket. I’ve never been a huge fan of the game itself, but there’s just something about cricketers that makes you go Oooooh! 😀 😀 It’s a mixture of everything you’ve just said, I guess.. 🙂 I think it takes a great deal of commitment to the game, especially since an ODI can go on for hours and hours.. I’m not even going to mention test matches that goes on for days! Love their passion!

I do not even know how I ended up here, but I thought this post was great. I don’t know who you are but certainly you’re going to a famous blogger if you aren’t already 😉 Cheers!

Wow…nice read….. It’s nice to see an expat take up a new game. It has happened to me since I moved to Switzerland. I have started following Ice hockey quite ardently. Have you been to a stadium for any IPL game so far? I would love to see you blog about your experience about the game and the crowd in the venues in general. I strongly believe that your blog can be instrumental in spreading the game in more non-traditional markets. I think that the game in it’s T20 format is quite exciting and can become very popular all over the world.

Thanks so much for the kind words. I do like writing about cricket and really need to write one article about a match. I didn’t go to any of the IPL games but really should have. I’ve to the stadium a bunch and have watched practice but never went to either Champions League or IPL live 🙁 Thanks for the encouraging comment, I will try and write more about cricket soon 🙂

Hhhhhm, a little bit of humour here.

    What about sexy chess players?

I swear women tell me I look very sexy when I play chess as I lovingly move my queen , my intense, hyper-intellectual brown eyes in deep thought as my solid eyebrow muscles flex away ! Women have been known to lovingly swoon and my cross-eyed loser opponent angrily
    fume !!!!

Of course, women have been known to tear off my clothes as I polish off the chess game my nerdy looking loser opponent stands totally devastated!

    Checkmate!

Sorry, Angela, my women friends think Chess players ( like me !) are sexier than cricketers or footballers or tennis players!

    Wink!

    😉

As I sip my Dos Equis with my arm lovingly wrapped around my bevy of chess player loving beauties !

    Sincerely,
    The dashing chess player !
The most interesting man in the world !

    Angela,
Fantastic blog! One thing to add is perhaps the endurance needed to play cricket, especially test cricket. Being out on the field all day in the hot sun requires endurance, strength, and longevity…
You write extremely well and it is great fun to read your blog. As an American college student I was introduced to cricket through cricket enthusiasts from India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan, West Indies, England…

haha, if I wrote about endurance that would take it a bit further on the naughty scale than I intended but yes indeed you are correct 🙂 Thanks for your kind words and for taking the time to comment! Cheers, angela

🙂 OK I see how the use of the word “endurance” would have another meaning! It seems that no other sport expects players to be out on the field in hot and humid weather for 2-3 days (depending on which team is batting or bowling/fielding) of a 5 day game/match. The match is seemingly endless and the players have to work really hard to survive the weather and being outdoors for long periods of time in addition to the sport itself. I also read about your experiences at the Indian wedding in a village. Hope to come back for more reading.
        Cheers,
        Len
